1. The WTO, The World Trade Organization function is to try and help and promote economic development, and international trade by reducing tariffs and other restrictions on trade. The decisions of the WTO affect many places in the world.

2. Global village is really what people think a village is, a small place that is easy to commute around and communicate to people to get goods easily like cloth and grocery’s. Although today the world is compared to a global village because of how everything in the world is being connected like the Internet.

3. I think that there is a global village today because they’re very easy to make a company globalized and to sell products almost anywhere in the world. The world is also a global village because it is now very easy to communicate with the world through Internet and phones.

4. Many changes have occurred when globalization had come into action. There were good things that and bad things that had been effected which are still going on today. Some good thing that were effected were shops made more business around the world, and had given people easier access to products that were only able to get internationally. Some bad thing that were effected are that people think that it is devastating the way that the world is developing and is causing protests around the world.

5. Globalization is really anything that is under an international influence. There are many types of international products, and restaurants that are highly influenced internationally in this world. Many products in supermarkets and stores have things made almost everywhere in the world. There are many other meanings to globalization; one is that how it helps then economy, helps give prosperity and even helps to give freedom to the world. Some say that globalization is a disaster to the world not allowing us to develop and puts pressure on human rights. Globalization is a very though thing to define since there are so many views of this definition from many people around the world.

7. Globalization is really not a new idea because it has been taking place in the past also. For example the industrial revolution that had occurred in Britain. Also about how the Silk Road was formed and traded with many colonies in the world like china with the Roman’s.

8. Trade operated in the past by establishing routes on sea and land. These routes would be used to trade goods from an empire to another empire to develop and learn from other peoples lands.

9. Britain had spearheaded the first industrial revolution by taking a large leap into a future. They had been the center of trade because of this leap into the future.

10. Thee industrial revolution, which began in Britain, had caused new technologies to be discovered and invented. New transportation had been discovered like a steam powered engine and railroads. The industrial revolution was just the begging of many years of to come to of ideas in the world to be discovered.

The difference between the pre-industrial Age to the “industrial Revolution” is the pre- industrial age had is that the state or government had quite a lot of control on the economy for the country. While an industrial age occurred because businesses were able to make there own income which had eventually caused the “Industrial Revolution”.

12. The economic system on capitalism is believed to be founded on self interest economy where business is done to get more power and the best income then helping and caring to others.

13. The government had put many Factory Acts (laws on factories) to help and take away the poor working conditions in factories. These laws had helped keep people from getting angry and protesting because they have working hours and are not worked constantly.

Free trade is when any product that is being imported from a country through free trade means there are no tariffs and taxes put on the product for importing, Protectionism, however, is a government taxes on an import to another country, it is also a way to protect and to compete with other country’s imports.

15. After WWII the state had come together internationally to help renew the international trade. This had helped greatly and had help give prosperity to many countries especially USA, Canada, Germany, and Britain.

16. A trend that had started in the 1980s was called “roll Back The State”. This means that businesses and companies had become privatized company which is transformed into a public company to a private company, this can cause taxes to lower. Governments sell companies when privatizing.

Trade, Wealth and Poverty

1. The role of the WTO, World Trade Organization is to help and take off tariffs from Tariffs and capitals; they also help to make movement between countries easier. The role of the IMF, International Monterey Fund, is to regulate exchange rates between currencies around the world. The role of the World Bank is to help countries that get into financial difficulties.

2. When the WTO only asks a country to “restructure” is when the country takes a loan from the World Bank. The government should take the loan and try to recover from the economic difficulty that the country is having.

3. MEDCS are country’s which are economically stable why LEDCS are place are not economically stable.

because there anxious for multinational to set up subsidiaries(branches,technically separate from the parent company) in their countries,bringing in money and goods and providing jobs for the local people.

Good facts:

1)Multinationals certainly tend to react angrily to attempts to improve working conditions

2)they apply health and safety standers in there concerns.

Bad facts:

1)the benefits may tend to restricted to the governing or wealthier classes and it could lead to small number of employes.


2) given a free hand multinationals may behave in ways that can damage communities


6. Why is it hard to control multinational companies? (Evaluating)

because it has too many branches that are beyond frontiers and it's not a subject to laws, if the multinationals is a major investor and employer the possibility that it will withdraw it's operations and relocate to a different country it's likely to alarm almost any government.thats way governments may easily be persuaded to a lower rate of taxation.
