These maps show the natural resources that South Africa can supply. The map above shows the agriculture South Africa has and areas they are done in. The map below shows the industry and mining areas in South Africa. These natural resources are probably traded between other countries from South Africa giving it a better economy. These are only the natural resources of South Africa, they also produce goods like cars and other products in factories that they also export to the world.

This map shows how poverty causes children to be underweight which can cause many chronic health and even death. In This map the large cities show that there is a low percentage of underweight kids. While areas with less of a population show high percentages of underweight children. This might be because in the large cities like Cape Town and Johannesburg probably more globalization in them making more job opportunities for money and a healthy living.

This Video is a commercial of a Nike company which is a worldwide sports company that makes sport goods like sport shoes, sport balls, and other sport equipment. The Nike slogan is "Just Do It" this has become popular around the world just like Mc Donald's slogan "I'm Lovin It." This Commercial however was made for South Africa and had used a South African accent through out the commercial. This shows how Nike has a positive effect in South Africa, causing it to make this commercial for the country, also for a way to let South Africa know that Nike sports equipment are sold in there country making it a money scheme.

?3 Questions on the Project?
How much do we need to talk about each Political, Economical, Social/Cultural, and Environments?

How can we interpret the South Africa population with the under weight kids in South Africa?

How do we interpret maps an information in them?

Information and Data
Interpretation
Location, Territory and Neighbours

Include Continent, size, and all neighbours including the largest nation of influence even if not a direct neighbor.
South Africa is in the continent of Africa, with an area of 1,219,912 sq km (471,008 sq km). South Africa has is where the Pacific ocean and Indian Ocean meet, also has the tip of the Southeastern of Africa called Cape of Good Hope. The country includes 79 percent white, 7.9 percent lack, and 8.9 percent mixed race, and 2.5 percent of Asians with a population of 47.2 million people. It has many neighboring countries including- Botswana, Swaziland, Zimbabwe, Lesotho, Mozambique, and Namibia. However, South Africa has many good relations in trading, its main trading partners are The United States, UK, Japan, Germany, An the Netherlands.

What does this all mean?
The country is mainly black just like most of Africa’s general population, also has a large population with a large area for it. South Africa’s bordering Countries are not all peaceful. One conflict is When the British had ruled Swaziland in the 1900’s, South Africa had claimed land where the Swazi people have lived, and now Swaziland wants these areas back. South Africa also have issues in on the border of Namibia and Zimbabwe this is because South Africa is getting better work that pays more causing many refuges to break in as illegal immigrants into South Africa. South Africa has positioned troops on these borders to try and avoid has many illegal immigrants entering the country. If you have noticed none of the main trading countries are in Africa, I think this is because South Africa cannot make much income from these nations because of their bad economy. Including that South Africa is not doing all so well its self.
Political environment Format of government

Describe how government is formed, not just what it is called. Also state whether things are stable or unruly, and what problems the government has recently been dealing with. News sites may help you here.
South Africa is still a young South Africa parliamentary democracy with a constitution that hadn’t formed till 1996. Each province in South Africa elect 10 members to be in the National Council of Provinces. The president is head of the government.

What does this mean for the people? For the countries neighbours?
Because of this Parliamentary Democracy everyone over the age of 18 were able to vote both Whites, and blacks.
Economic situation
Please avoid saying 1st, 2nd, 3rd world. Are they developing? Developed? What drives the economy? Employment rates? Main trading partner? Any trade issues or disputes? What percentage of your income goes to taxes? What percentage of this goes to spending on health, military, education…?
South Africa is the most industrialized nation in Africa. It makes up 30% of Africa’s GDP (Gross Domestic Product. However, South Africa only achieved a economic achievement of 0.8 percent, however expert economist have predicted a strong growth to come after 2003. South Africa has always been an area where most South Africans lived as herders and farmers. This had all changed when the Europeans arrived. New laws and taxes were enforced. One law was The Hut Tax that was enforced in the late 19th century had caused black Africans to pay the government taxes on their homes. This had forced many Africans to get work in far away mines to become miners and to leave their farms.
What does this mean for the people, for the government, for its position in the world how this would affect its status, grievances, alliances or voting patterns in the UN
This mean that the Europeans had caused South Africa to be more globalized because of all these industry companies and mining companies are opening through out the country. This had caused much export helping the South Africa’s economy.
Natural resources, main trading partners, economic interests

In case you ran out of room in the previous row, carry on here.
South Africa has many resources including a lot of mining, especially gold and diamond, which has lured international trading with other countries. The country also has 8.9 million hectares, which is only about 7.3% of the land area. Fishing is more very popular on the west coast of South Africa, which includes Cape Town. South Africa had fished 862,574 tons of fish and had exported much fish and had help the country make $395.5 dollars. South Africa also has some oil pipelines that are at the east coast of South Africa.
So how do your resources, or lack thereof, affect who your friends are?
The more useful resources are meaning the country wants to get the supply of gold or type of mining done in South Africa. This would help South Africa and its treaties it signs with the UN usually. This helps South Africa more known to countries making them allies to help each other in situations like wars, and economic situations.

Social composition
What are the age demographics? Is there public health care? Public education? Be careful is this free K-12? What percentage votes? Are people free to travel? What is the GDP/person? What religions are practiced? There is an endless array of date you could place here.
The age demographics in South Africa’s population is 47.4 it includes
0-14yrs: 32%
15-64yrs: 64%
65+yrs= 4%
57% of people live in urban areas, these urban areas which are in the biggest cities which include, Cape Town, Durban, Johannesburg, Pretoria, Pietermaritzburg, Soweto, and Port Elizabeth. While about 43 %live in Rural, this population mainly includes blacks. Dwelling and the utilities in these home are very poor. The GDP of South Africa had put 8.7 percent of it into health and 5.3 on education in 2002. This is quite high compared to many nations. During the apartheid era only whites had better care in school, while nonwhites struggled. After apartheid had been taken out of law the government had tackled this problem and had made south Africa’s population 86 percent literate in 2003. South Africa had made it easier for anyone to school poor and rich and is almost expected that every student should o to school from the ages seven-to fifteen South Africa’s health has caused the its population to be predicted to be decreased to 42 million people by 2030. This because of HIV/AIDS. The population had trouble taking care of the population and its health. The relgion on South Africa is mainly Chritian with 83.1% of the population, with

The number you decide to mention should be explained. So what does it mean if Iran’s median age is 24? Or, that half its population is under 30? What does it mean that between 60-80% of Chinese people live in rural communities? Interpreting data will need discussion between you and your partner.
This information shows how well the country does through percentage of the population to show well it is doing in social composition. The urban areas are equal witch is not always good because that means 50 % of the population is poor and living in rural areas.
Recent history or history that defines current opinion and culture
What history should be mentioned that would help us understand the mindset of the people and the present government? Many things in the past affect the way people think today. Mention some here in point form. Be sure it the summation makes sense when you read it over.
I did not understand this question. What should I look for the history and how people react to the government?

Explain how key events affected the way people might see an issue. How might events or traditions affect the way a country will vote on an issue? What policies will they support or not support?
Recent conflicts or unresolved border disputes. Any other disputes?

If you haven’t mentioned these yet, they are important.
There have been very extensive disputes between the border Zimbabwe and South Africa. This is because of the huge economic crisis hat had occurred in Zimbabwe causing them to come and find jobs in South Africa by breaking through the border.

How do they affect relations elsewhere? Is there domestic or external pressure to resolve this? Does anyone even care? Why or why not?
This affects the country because it brings in many poor illegal immigrants that will beg in rich parts of cities. This gives the country a bad picture.
Membership of various organizations

These organizations might have a common policy with neighbouring countries of certain (perhaps regional) organizations may be potential allies for resolutions.

Are you obligated by treaty to do something? For example, what does it mean if you signed the Genocide convention? Should you not help immediately in these scenarios?
Treaties and Agreements
Which treaties/agreements is the country in question a signatory of?
Have these been ratified (i.e. has the national legislature been harmonized in accordance with the treaty)?

South Africa has Free- Trade relations between them and the EU. Almost all of the exports are on free trade to the EU from South Africa. Treaty was signed for this in 1999. Also Australia had signed a trey with South Africa, they had signed a treaty that helps each other revise taxes and avoid other problems that occur on taxes.
You need not list all, but which ones might be important in defining relationships to others in the neighborhood or in the world? Would signing some make you look better in other’s eyes? Worse?

Any interesting or fun facts about the country or culture
